|
Morton Grove, IL - March 16, 2009

The products were used
in the renovation of a Brooklyn brownstone, the first-ever New York City project in the show’s
30-year history. The 1904 Renaissance Revival townhouse was a former rooming house that will be
transformed into a three-family home. Episodes featuring the This Old House New York City project
are currently airing on PBS. (check www.thisoldhouse.com/tvschedule or your local listings).
A total of 15 different hydronic heating products, including Bell & Gossett 3-Speed NRF® wet rotor
circulators and McDonnell & Miller’s RB-122 low water cutoffs, were donated to the This Old House New York
City project by ITT and Wallace Eannace. Other ITT products donated included Bell & Gossett Check-Trol®
isolation valves, Circuit Setter® balancing valves, expansion tanks, reducing valves, differential
bypass valves, an EAS® enhanced air separator and a PSH primary/secondary header.
The This Old House team, along with architect Susanne Lyn and general contractor Michael Streaman, finished
the residential project in February. Considerable damage was done to the 4,000 sq.-ft. property during its
years as a rooming house but many period details are still intact. Refurbishing these well-worn period details
while adding modern conveniences will repair years of neglect while updating the house for 21st century living.
The renovation plan involved patching and painting the house’s exterior brownstone and performing a
preservation-minded restoration of its cavernous interior. The plan also called for removing the numerous
boarding-house washrooms that were retrofitted into closet space years ago and transforming its first floor
back parlor into a modern-day kitchen.
Randy and Erik Gitli of Aladdin Plumbing & Heating of Brooklyn installed the heating System. Randy, who is
president of Aladdin, expressed pride in being involved in the brownstone renovation, saying, “The unique
services of Wallace Eannace Associates, in integrating their product offering into the project along with
their start-up services, has made this project a joy. We are pleased to be working with such a fine
organization that makes our job that much easier in the long run.”
