Bell & Gossett Offers New
ANSI/OSHA-Compliant Coupling Guards for Pumps

Bell & Gossett has introduced a new line of ANSI and OSHA-Compliant Coupling Guards
that offer increased protection against potential injuries and conform to the specific
requirements of ANSI B15.1, section 8 and OSHA 1910.219.
Engineered to provide personnel with the highest possible level of safety and protection
from rotating equipment, the guards are available in numerous sizes to cover all B&G
frame mounted centrifugal pumps. The new guards features slotted viewing windows for easy
inspection and are also available in easy-to-install change-out kits for units already
installed in the field.
The coupling guards are now standard on all Series VSC/VSCS, Series HSC and Series 1510
centrifugal pumps from Bell & Gossett.
The Bell & Gossett guards conform to these specific ANSI and OSHA requirements:

ANSI b15.1, Section 8:
8.1: The guard shall prevent inadvertent placing of any part of the body in, on or over
edges of the guard where it may contact a moving part.
8.5: The enclosure shall conform to
a maximum size opening of 1/4 up to
1-1/2 from a moving part
8.5.2: When the guard is partially open on the machine side
the distance to the
moving part
based upon the opening
shall not be more than 1/4.
OSHA 1910.219:
C.2: All exposed horizontal shafting
shall be protected by a stationary casing
enclosing shafting completely
on the sides, top and bottom of the shafting.
