Miller Receives ISO 14001 Environmental Certification
January 26, 1998- Chicago, IL-- McDonnell &
Miller, a unit of ITT Industries, has received ISO 14001
certification.. McDonnell & Miller becomes only the
55th company in the United States, the first Illinois
company, and the first ITT Industries Company in the U.S.
to achieve this environmental management certificate.
The world-class environmental management system standard
requires a commitment to continuous improvement,
emergency response planning and independent monitoring of
all environmental impact areas including energy and water
consumption, sewage discharge, airborne emissions,
hazardous materials and noise levels.
"Receiving ISO 14001 certification is a significant
accomplishment for McDonnell & Miller," said
Robert Dvorak, McDonnell & Miller General Manager.
"This enables us to reduce the environmental impact
of our operations and provide a safer, healthier place to
work."
"We were able to fulfill the requirements for
certification in seven months," says McDonnell &
Miller s Environmental Health and Training Coordinator
Jeff Melo. "That s because we have an aggressive
corporate environmental compliance program already in
place."
"We ll use less water and energy, while producing
less waste," says Melo. "ISO 14001 not only
identifies you as an environmental leader, it also makes
sense from a pure business standpoint."
