Engineer makes 100,000th Bell & Gossett pump selection online

Logging on to ESP-PLUS Online in early summer was Ross Laird of Giffels Associates, a Canadian Engineering company. Laird, who regularly visits ITT Industries’ Fluid Handling University website, accessed ESP-PLUS Online and made the 100,000th selection. Laird was selecting a 3,000 GPM pump for an automobile manufacturing facility in Alabama.

In recognition of this milestone, Bell & Gossett presented Laird with a Palm Pilot ™ Vx, preloaded with Bell & Gossett’s System Syzer® and Balance Valve software.

Launched in November 1997 as part of the company’s website, ESP-PLUS Online can be accessed in the software section of Bell & Gossett’s website (www.bellgossett.com). The program helps HVACR professionals identify and select fluid handling products quickly, accurately and easily. Users can choose the correct pumps for applications based on flow rate, pump head, style and speed. ESP-PLUS Online also lets visitors request quotes; view pump specifications and detailed engineering data; link to scaled CAD drawings: check published pump curves; and graph up to three pumps in parallel.

HVACR professionals may also access an enhanced version of ESP-PLUS Online that supports additional engineering functions. These include: adjusting pump selections for viscous fluids; graphing variable speed pump curves and up to nine pumps in parallel; performing system modeling and variable speed costs analyses; computing wire-to-water efficiencies of multiple pump systems; and generating product submittals.

Another feature of ESP-PLUS Online allows HVACR professionals to conduct analyses of already-installed pump systems. By entering current pumps’ series numbers, models, speed and impeller sizes, users can generate pump and system curves, as well as experiment with system operation by changing variables.

ESP-PLUS Online pump selection program can be found in the software section of Bell & Gossett’s website. There, users are linked directly to the feature with a single mouse click. After accessing ESP-PLUS Online, visitors are directed by a series of clear prompts, charts and fill-ins.
