Improved Flow Switch Paddle Design. McDonnell & Miller Upgrades Flow Switch Lines with Stainless Steel PaddlesChicago, IL -- May 3, 2000. McDonnell & Miller's popular Series FS4 and FS8 liquid flow switches now feature stainless steel paddles to improve the units' reliability and performance, especially in demanding applications. The stainless steel paddles are thicker and more durable than the monel paddles previously offered with Series FS4 and FS8 units. The new design reduces the possibility of paddle breakage when the flow switches are installed in areas of high fluid turbulence and lessens paddle deterioration in harsh water applications. The flow switches are designed for systems with flow less than 10 feet per second. Each Series FS4 and Series FS8 flow switch is packaged with four
paddles, available in 1", 2", 3" and 6" lengths that can be trimmed to
fit specific pipe sizes. Additionally, McDonnell & Miller offers a stainless steel
paddle replacement kit for retrofitting previous Series FS4 and FS8 models. Both series can operate at pressures up to 150 psi (10.5 kg/cm2) Series FS4 flow switches handle fluid/ambient temperature ranges from 32° F (0° C) to 300°F (149° C), while Series FS8 models operate in ranges from 32° F (0° C) to 225°F (107°C). A variety of options are available, including models rated for CE conformance.
