Superior Alternative to Large Wet Rotor Pumps BELL & GOSSETT EXPANDS ITS FAMILY OF SERIES PL™ IN-LINE CIRCULATORS

Morton Grove, IL -- February 7, 2000.

Bell & Gossett has expanded its family of Series PL™ maintenance-free circulators. The new PL-55 delivers high head performance while the new PL-75 provides the higher flow rates often required in larger systems.
Unlike wet rotors, the Series PL can handle dirty system water at a wide range of temperatures (0° to 225°F, or -18° to 107°C). The rugged circulators feature an advanced close-coupled dry motor design that eliminates concerns of system contaminants. The exclusive B&G XLII® bearing system features maintenance-free permanently lubricated bearings.

The Series PL Circulator’s close-coupled design incorporates a durable carbon-on-silicon carbide seal and stainless steel faceplate that separate the motor from the volute, impeller and system water. This close-coupled configuration

increases pump life and efficiency
assures dependable seasonal start ups
easily handles difficult water conditions, including calcium carbonates and iron oxides found in today’s hydronic systems.

The sealed, precision-crafted B&G XL11® bearing system requires no maintenance. Treated with an advanced, high temperature, non-hydrocarbon, silicon-free lubricant, the bearings are designed to provide long life and quiet, trouble-free operation.
In contrast to wet rotors, Series PL Circulators don’t bypass system water through the motor to lubricate the bearings. As a result, motor energy is delivered to the pumping task, resulting in a 25% increase in motor efficiency.

All Series PL Circulators feature powerful Bell & Gossett motors that deliver the highest performance in their class. Available with flange sizes ranging from 3/4 inch to 2 inches, Series PL Circulators also feature

A solid “stiff-shaft” design. Constructed of a high-strength alloy steel, the shaft is impervious to thermal stresses that can crack ceramic shafts.
Precision-machined and balanced alloy rotors for superior performance.
Double-sided, stainless steel neck rings for optimum efficiency.
