Several readers took the time to send us a note about our inaugural newsletter. Thanks for the feedback. The following message stood out and
we thought we should share it.

I will say, I read each & thought it all was short & to the point. Well done. Thanks for sending it my way. We have been in
business since 1921 & it gets harder every day, but it helps to have the info that gets sent to stay on top of what it
is you do for a living.

Act Green by Thinking Red!

With rising energy costs, most of us are keenly interested in controlling our energy consumption. In hydronic systems,
the easiest way to save energy is to pump less water. Unfortunately though, it takes more than just a design calculation to
make this happen in the field.

Bell & Gossett offers several hydronic accessories such as the Triple Duty Valve, Circuit Setter Plus and Circuit Sentry
balancing valves that contribute to a greener environment and offer other unique benefits to your pumping systems.

Ensure code compliance and protect your customers with a low water cut off
|
|
|
Virtually every international, national and local code clearly states that a low water cut off device is required on
residential steam boilers, and nearly all steam boilers ship from the factory with a low water cut off installed.
Things are not as clearly defined when dealing with hot water boilers and the contractor is often at the mercy of the local
inspector’s interpretation of the code. Including a low water cut off with every boiler installation is an inexpensive way to
assure code compliance, provide your customers with peace of mind, and demonstrate that your business takes a proactive approach
to homeowner safety.

Another Short History Lesson
|
|
|
We last left off with Bell & Gossett making history with its "booster" pump. The principle of using water circulators on hot
water heating systems was not a new concept. It was used as far back as the early 1900's. It's just that Bell & Gossett perfected
the circulator and added needed controls. Together with Monoflo® fittings (a "scientifically designed" water diverting device),
these products made possible the installation of one-pipe hot water heating systems with a substantial reduction in pipe sizes and
correspondingly lower costs. A hot water heating system could be installed at a price comparable to or less than a steam system.
The hot water system was more desirable for many reasons, the most important being a close control of the heat supply that assures
greater comfort and avoids fuel waste. Next month’s issue will explain how the Monoflo came to be. Stay tuned.
