Understanding Seismic Analysis
Seismic Analysis or Earthquake Engineering is a type of
structural analysis that approximates the response of a structure, such as a Heat
Exchanger, to earthquakes. It is often a requested part
of the structural design or structural assessment in regions where earthquakes are prevalent.
Several different methods/codes exist which define how the structural analysis should be performed.

Quick Quiz: Impeller Rotation
Looking at this impeller, which direction should it be turning? Direction "A" where the impeller "cups" the water or "B"
where the impeller "slaps" the water? The correct answer is "B". If you run a centrifugal pump backwards, it will operate but
at significantly reduced performance and it will be noisy. Single phase pumps are internally wired to turn in the correct direction. Three phase
motors, however, can be wired so the pump accidently runs backwards. The problem can be corrected by switching any two of the three leads. Be advised,
some pump types can be damaged running them backwards so care should be taken during installation.
