| Hot Water Baseboard Loop |
How does it work?
1. Water is heated in a boiler, either by gas, oil or electricity. |
| 2. Hot water is then pumped through the
pipes to the radiators. |
| 3. As the hot water flows through the
radiators, warm air is drawn from the fins (located on the bottom of the baseboard) and released
into the room through the baffles (located on top of the baseboard). |
| 4. The cold water goes back to the boiler
where it is reheated and recirculated again. |
| 5. Boiler temperature is based on the
feedback from the room thermostat. When the room temperature drops below the thermostat setting,
a signal is sent to the pump. The pump begins circulating hot water through the system.

BOILER |
| A boiler
is a closed vessel in which water or other fluid is heated under pressure. The heated
water is circulated though out the system to provide space heating, pool heating, hot
domestic potable water heating, etc. |
|

|
GUARD DOG LOW WATER
CUT-OFF |
| A low water cut-off does two things. First, it
accurately detects a low water condition should it occur. Second, it automatically shuts
down the combustion operation of the boiler. This will prevent the boiler from firing
while its water level is too low to properly manage the heat and energy. A low water
cut-off is required by code in many states in the USA and many boiler manufacturers
stipulate that cut-offs are to be routinely installed, especially if radiation is
installed below the level of the boiler. |

EASB-JR AIR SEPARATOR |
| EASB-JR
Air Separator is designed to automatically remove entrained air bubbles in hydronic
systems. As fluid enters the air separator, the velocity is decreased creating a
low-pressure area. The small bubbles are released from fluid and then collect on the
coalescing medium. As the bubbles coalesce, they rise to the top of the air separator
where they are released to atmosphere through the built-in automatic air vent. |

HFT DIAPHRAGM TANK |
| HFT
Diaphragm Tank is used to absorb the force of thermal expansion on the boiler loop
when the closed loop boiler system water is increased and to maintain proper
pressurization. |
|

|
PRESSURE REDUCING
VALVE |
| B&G reducing valves protect heating and plumbing
systems against excessive line pressures. |
|

|
ASME SAFETY RELIEF
VALVE |
| B&G diaphragm operated cast
iron and diaphragm-assist operated bronze ASME Safety
Relief Valves are designed to protect fired and unfired hot water pressure vessels
against over-pressure conditions. |
|

|
PRIMARY CIRCULATOR
PUMP |
| Primary circulator
moves hot water from the boiler to the radiation. |
|

|
COMFORT-TROL
ZONE CONTROL VALVE |
| Another way to zone a hot water
system is to use electric zone valves. The
zone valve takes the place of the Flo-Control valve. Each
zone valve acts as a "Gatekeeper" to the zone
it serves. The circulator
provides the water, and the zone valve allows that water to either pass or not pass. |
|

|
97 AUTOMATIC AIR VENT |
| 97 automatic air vent
is designed to vent troublesome air from hydronic heating systems. |
|

|
Y-STRAINER |
| Y-
Strainer collects dirt and debris in the system to protect the other components in the
system. |
